FAQS

WHAT IS THE EXPIRY DATE OF HYDRAMED?

There are two answers to this question.

  1. Unopened: The product will last until the expiry date printed on the packaging. We always send out HydraMed with at least 12-months before the expiry date.

  2. Opened – After opening the bottle should be discarded after 90-days. The Daily-dose units must be discarded 12-hours after opening.

CAN HYDRAMED BE USED WITH CONTACT LENSES?

Absolutely! The best way to use HydraMed with contact lenses is to place 1 or 2 drops onto the inside surface, or ‘bowl’ of the lens, just before you put it in the eye.

In fact, a study has shown that not only does this improve the initial comfort of the lenses but can also extend comfortable wearing time by a couple of hours or so.

DOES HYDRAMED CONTAIN POTENTIALLY IRRITATING PRESERVATIVES?

No. Both the bottle and the Daily-dose unit formats are preservative free.

The bottle uses a patented non-returnable valve system to prevent contaminated air being sucked back into the bottle. In fact, this design is the only one approved by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency).

For the daily-dose units, provided the cap is replaced after use, they are safe reused throughout the day. Having no preservative to prevent microbial growth they must not be used for a second day.

WHICH HYDRAMED FORMAT IS BEST FOR ME TO BUY?

If you are using HydraMed every day, as recommended by your eyecare practitioner, then it really is a matter of personal preference.

However, some people find the softer plastic of the daily-dose unit makes it easier to instil the drops into the eye. The daily-dose units also have an advantage if you don’t use the drops every day, as they will last until the expiry date on the pack.

WHAT IS THE RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY OF USE FOR HYDRAMED?

Dry Eye disease is a chronic condition that can ultimately only be managed, not treated. If HydraMed is part of the management regimen prescribed by your optometrist or ophthalmologist, then it is essential to use the drops every day as they recommend. This is normally at least twice a day, in the morning and before bedtime.

HOW LONG DOES A BOTTLE OF HYDRAMED LAST WHEN USED DAILY?

Assuming a drop is used in each eye 2-3 times a day then a bottle should last about a month.
